Self Esteem

What Do You Deserve?

What do you deserve?

If that question makes you feel uncomfortable, welcome. When I think of the word “deserve”, it comes with a string attached.

We deserve something when we earn it. Right?

Or we must be good enough to deserve something.

I’d like to challenge your interpretation of the word “deserve”, because I was reminded this morning by Louise Hay that “Personal power is affected by the way we perceive our deservability”.

Your inner power is tied to your thoughts behind what you deserve.  It’s our power that influences our decisions, our choices and ultimately our life.

Here’s what I deserve. I deserve love. I deserve joy. I deserve peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control.

These are not gifts to be earned. I don’t need to be perfect or even good “enough”. I just need to breathe, to be alive.

Some might say - I deserve money. But money is not born of the Soul. It is an object, created by humanity.  A tool, paper and any feelings accompanied by what money purchases are fleeting and limited.

So let’s get back to what we deserve and how our lives mirror our beliefs. If any of you has any problems (I say in jest) - relationship, financial, addiction, anxiety - they all stem from what’s happening inside.

Our limited beliefs in our own power are fed by limited beliefs in our self-worth.  Make loving yourself, and listening to your heart your priority and your life will change.

But here’s the deal - you can’t just sit around wishing things were different, crying about your situation, and doing nothing about it.

You must take responsibility for your life.

That’s the first step to regaining your power. Pointing fingers outside of yourself and blaming others will just feed your suffering.

Isn't it worth it?  For your children? For yourself?

I’ll leave you with these powerful words from Panache Desai. “You will never be enough for anyone else in your life until you are enough for yourself.”
